I first met Pavitra about more than a decade ago on a shoot at her home. I still remember the gorgeously styled pink book shelf in her living room. Every corner in that cosy home was bursting with prints and patterns with the traditional mosaic flooring holding its own. It was a petite apartment where tiny, drawings made by her sons sat prettily next to some of the more distinguished names from the art world. Today, as she settles into her plush, studio in a Mumbai sky-rise, I can’t help but wonder how things have changed and yet stayed the same. She is still the queen of prints and patterns, her space, still the eclectic haven, but today it’s perhaps more refined, confident and positively proud. Much like Pavitra herself.
