From artisan traditions to contemporary designs, Obeetee carpets honour India's heritage

a tale of tapestry

“Craftsmanship will always hold its own in the world, but to stay meaningful, we must keep growing and evolving,” says Angelique Dhama, CEO of Obeetee Carpets (Retail). With over a century of weaving stories into their carpets, Obeetee isn't simply creating floor coverings; they're nurturing a heritage that speaks of India's rich cultural tapestry and artistry. Founded- ed in 1920 in the weaving heartland of Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, Obeetee was the brainchild of three Englishmen who wanted to introduce India's timeless craft to global audiences. A hundred years later, its carpets have traveled far, gracing homes, palaces, and even the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. “Obeetee is a celebration of India's cultural soul. It's an honor to carry this legacy forward,” says Rudra Chatterjee, Chairman of Obeetee.
