A cloakroom can be a wonderful addition to your home if your household has outgrown sharing one bathroom upstairs. It's not as expensive as you might think (between £2,000 and £4,000), but it's also not an easy DIY job, as it requires plumbing experience. 'It isn't just about adding a toilet," explains Barrie Cutchie, design director at BC Designs. 'At the very least you will need a washbasin, a light source and also ventilation. If there's more space to play with, then you may consider turning it into a downstairs washroom or bathroom,' he adds.
