It was never a one-way ticket for Satyajeet Patwardhan and Pashmin Shah when they left their roots in Maharashtra to study their Master's in the USA — in Texas and New York, respectively.

The two first met as benchmates in the College of Architecture, Nashik, right before the dawn of the new century in 1999. With 25 years in between, they still remain benchmates (or deskmates, precisely) at their architecture and design studio titled Amoeba Design, which they co-founded upon their return to India in 2010.

Fast forward to a month ago, I meet the duo (also partners in life) at their workspace in Pune. My first introduction to their life and work starts with the spotting of an antique push-button door bell outside the studio, inexplicably alerting me that what lies behind the door is possibly a space alive with quiet quirks and unexpected finds.
