Having admired a 17th-century farmhouse from afar for many years, Debbie Down was thrilled when she discovered it was finally on the market. ‘My husband Dave and I loved living in this part of Suffolk and were loath to move from the village, so this property was a golden opportunity,’ says Debbie. ‘I couldn’t wait to view it and was bowled over by the wealth of period features, particularly the magnificent cobbled floor. The rambling, garden at the back was an added bonus.’
With her interior designer’s instincts twitching, Debbie began formulating ideas to bring the outside in. The house had started life as a small farmstead, and was later converted into two dwellings before being combined into one house. Debbie who, along with Dave and son George, runs their interior design business and home accessories store, Rooms With A View, began planning how to reconfigure the layout.
