FEVERISH DEMAND FOR HIGH-VALUE COINS IN AN ERA OF RISK

- BY SCOTT A. TRAVERS

Rush to Portable Wealth

Intense wildfires, flash floods, earthquakes, severe storms and tornadoes are ongoing natural disasters challenging the global landscape.

The threat of devastating impact is forcing people who live in potentially hazardous areas to rethink the way they confront risk. Some of this rethinking has culminated in a careful and methodical escape plan, complete with transport options for their coins and precious metals.

imageIn designing ultimate flight-to-safety plans, the allure of a number of coins of high value or a single very high-value coin becomes undeniable when compared to the impracticality of moving boxes of coins weighing hundreds or thousands of pounds to safety.

In modern times, collectors and investors really hadn't given much thought to moving coins and precious metal bars they have with little or no notice until about a decade or two ago when catastrophic natural disasters began confronting them with little or no notice. Combine this era of devastating catastrophes with banks discontinuing the rental of safe deposit boxes and you have everyone thinking about what they're going to do when the next big one hits and they need to run for the hills with their coins.
