Hyrox. Crossfit. Ironman: Which one is best for you?

From long-haul endurance races to high intensity AMRAPS, here's how to pick the exercise style that suits your body, mindset and training style

Fitness has moved way beyond gym splits, 5k runs and casual weekend workouts. Today we want something bigger to train for. Enter Hyrox, CrossFit and Ironman: three very different but hugely popular fitness challenges, each pushing you physically and mentally, in their own unique way.
However, not everyone is suited to each of these brutal disciplines.

This indoor, high-intensity competitive fitness race combines eight 1 km runs with eight functional workouts -think sled pushes and pulls, farmer's carry, walking lunges, burpee broad jumps, wall balls, rowing and ski erg. You can battle it alone, with a partner or in a team of four.
"Training for Hyrox builds strength, endurance and mental resilience. It gives structure, keeps training varied and engaging, and offers a clear, repeatable goal to work toward," says Ollie Campbell, Director of Priority 6 Personal Training.
Hyrox has also developed a strong community, with local training groups, dedicated Hyrox-focused gyms and online forums.
What type of training is involved?
As the self proclaimed 'fitness race for every body', technically anyone should be able to do Hyrox.
"Hyrox has no complex skills such as Olympic lifting, making it more accessible than CrossFit or obstacle racing," says Ollie.
