CLASSIC BANANA PUDDING
¾ cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
¼ cup cornstarch
4 large egg yolks
3½ cups whole milk
1½ cups heavy cream
½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
5 large or 7 small bananas, peeled and thinly sliced
