The Sports Aerobatics Club, a section of the Aero Club of South Africa launched a series of training camps to draw new entrants to the exciting world of aerobatics in 2019. This initiative was aimed at, but not restricted to the large number of Vans RV owners that the club hoped to attract so that they could take part in training camps and be mentored by the more experienced pilots of the club. Annie Boon, who is the team manager told me that interest in the training camps has been excellent and I witnessed this myself on Saturday 11 March. There is no doubt that the Kitty Hawk venue, being close to all the airfields of Gauteng as well as the home to many RV types has been ideal for this type of event.
