El mensaje de Whitney Goodman es claro: deja de perseguir la felicidad para ser más feliz. Suena bien, ¿no? La psicoterapeuta escribió su libro, Positividad tóxica, para denunciar la tiranía de la positividad que abunda en las redes sociales. Su objetivo es ayudarnos a navegar por esas emociones difíciles que nacen de momentos complicados y a no acomodarnos en una falsa positividad, sino a enfrentar nuestros problemas, atravesarlos y entender cómo manejarnos en la positividad real, es decir, con amabilidad hacia nosotras mismas y sin fingimientos. "Trato de escribir cosas que sean honestas. En general, suelo concentrarme en las relaciones familiares y otros temas que hacen que la gente batalle un poco respecto a su salud mental, y la positividad tóxica fue uno de ellos; en cuanto la detecté, supe que tenía que escribir al respecto", me comparte la experta sobre su sello como autora.

Whitney, ¿qué es la positividad tóxica, cómo se manifiesta?

Es la presión incesante para estar siempre felices y positivos, sin importar las circunstancias. La podemos sentir por parte de los demás e incluso también podríamos estarla causando sin darnos cuenta.
