FATHER BROWN LAST ONE FRIDAY, 2PM, BBC1 DRAMA

Ona sunny July morning, TV Times is standing in the garden of a beautiful Cotswolds pub, surrounded by actors who are spiffily dressed in 1950s finery.

We've been invited on set for the Series 12 finale of BBC1's cosy whodunnit Father Brown, which features the hotly anticipated wedding of Chief Inspector Edgar Sullivan (played by Tom Chambers) and parish secretary Mrs Isabel Devine (Claudie Blakley).

As we seek out a shaded spot to watch the drama unfold, it's clear that their road to the altar won't be a smooth one, as Sullivan's father Walter (New Tricks star Denis Lawson) only agrees to give the union his blessing if the couple leave the (fictional) village of Kembleford for London.

But Walter's controlling behaviour infuriates many people, which culminates in someone attempting to murder him! Can Father Brown (Mark Williams) catch the would-be killer and save the big day?

During a break in proceedings, Tom and Claudie tell us what lies ahead for the future Mr and Mrs Sullivan…

CLAUDIE Oh, it's lovely - it has been brewing for three series now, with little looks across the room. I think she never thought she would have a romance again after losing her husband, so it's nice that they've found each other slightly later on in life.

TOM Edgar has been holding a candle for her for three years, but it took him a whole year to do anything about it! And there have been so many stories of her going behind his back, because obviously Mrs Devine is torn between assisting Father Brown and her loyalty to her fiancé.
