US star KAITLIN OLSON introduces us to TV's latest amateur sleuth

Cleaning up CRIME

Kaitlin Olson is a familiar face to fans of long-running US sitcom It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, having played self-centred bartender Dee Reynolds since the show began in 2005. Now, the actor is delighted to be flexing her dramatic muscles in glossy new crime drama High Potential, which launches on Disney+ this week.

Based on French series Haut Potentiel Intellectuel, the 13-parter is set in Los Angeles and stars Kaitlin as single mother Morgan Gillory, an outspoken cleaner with an exceptional IQ. While tidying up in the office of the Los Angeles Police Department's Major Crimes unit, Morgan's keen eye for detail helps solve a murder and she is hired as a consultant.

'I love that this show is something different,' smiles Oregon-born Kaitlin, 49, as she joins TV Times for an exclusive interview from her home in LA.

image'Morgan's a fun character and gives me an opportunity to play emotion, comedy and everything in between!' Here, the Hollywood star shares her case notes...

We love the premise of the show, Kaitlin. So, how does Morgan first come to the attention of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD)?

Morgan's a single mom of three [to teenage daughter Ava, son Elliot and baby daughter Chloe], working as a cleaner for the police and just about making ends meet. One night, she knocks over a bunch of evidence and, as she's cleaning it up, she realises they've made a mistake. She crosses off 'Suspect' under one woman's picture on their case board and writes 'Victim'.

Does that ruffle feathers?
