Rob Brydon scored an unlikely No 1 hit with his twist on a country music classic – (Barry) Islands in the Stream, with Gavin & Stacey costar Ruth Jones. Now he's hitting the road to explore the history of country music in America's Deep South in a three-part travelogue.

'It's a road trip to celebrate 100 years of [world-famous country-music radio show] the Grand Ole Opry and the current popularity of country music, and to learn more about it,' says Brydon. 'We begin and end in Nashville, but also go into Kentucky, North Carolina, Alabama, Missouri and Georgia.'
