Game Of Thrones continues in new prequel series A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms

WITH AN EARLY 2026 RELEASE date quickly approaching, the finer details of A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms are finally starting to land, including some head-swerving teases from the cast and crew. What's in store for Game Of Thrones fans? For starters, the six-part spinoff will incorporate a grittier and more grounded tone than its predecessors, as well as some of the most intense, ass-kicking medieval action seen on the small screen.

The highly-anticipated HBO series is based on George RR Martin's novellas about a hedge knight called Ser Duncan the Tall, aka Dunk (played by Peter Claffey), and his young squire, Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell). The story is set a century before Game Of Thrones, in a time where the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne.

In the words of showrunner Ira Parker, "Following Dunk on this journey, we've never had this perspective before. He is somebody who grew up in the slums of King's Landing as an orphan who didn't have a name, didn't have an inheritance and didn't have any money. He also didn't have the best training in the world. He's just trying to make it. He's trying to go out and do something hard that he's never done before. He's out of his comfort zone. Hopefully, a lot of that will resonate with our audience."
