Patrick Dempsey is getting ready to hand over the crown. After earning People's Sexiest Man Alive title in 2023, the star, 58, embarked on a busy year promoting movies like Ferrari, a new TV series and causes close to his heart. The dad of three, married 25 years to wife Jillian, a makeup artist, chats about what's ahead-including his partnership with the American Cancer Society and Pfizer for the Change the Odds initiative to raise awareness of cancer resources and support in rural areas.

It's almost time to announce 2024's Sexiest Man Alive. Do you have any advice for the next in line?

It's really good for one's ego, but it's so subjective. You take it seriously enough to be grateful, but don't take it too seriously.

It's a great group of people to be a part of.

Did you get to use the title of Sexiest Man Alive to your advantage in any way?

No, it makes me more anxiety-ridden.

[Laughs] I needed to stay in shape, to train more.
