INSIDE THEIR SHOCKING SPLIT

If there were trophies awarded to the most adorably effusive couple, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s bookshelves would surely have buckled by now.

Since the pair’s romance first sparked 20 years ago, they haven't been shy about expressing their love, whether in a magazine interview or an onstage acceptance speech. “I’m so lucky that I have Keith, who’s just my love, my deep, deep love,” the Oscar-winning actress told People last year. And just five months ago, on May 8, after winning the Triple Crown Award at the 2025 ACM Awards, country singer Urban shouted out Kidman, using the nickname for her that he has tattooed on his neck: “I love you, babygirl!”

Those sweet sentiments are now stunningly a thing of the past. On Sept. 29 sources confirmed to People that Kidman, 58, and Urban, 57, have separated after 19 years of marriage. It was a painful decision Kidman had hoped to avoid, even after she and Urban spent most of the summer living apart, according to a source familiar with the situation: "She didn't want this. She has been fighting to save the marriage." Kidman—who shares daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, with Urban—has been leaning on her sister Antonia, 55, and other loved ones during the ordeal, continues the source: "Nicole's sister has been a rock, and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another."

The news of the split came as a surprise to fans around the globe, who grew accustomed to their affectionate red carpet outings, but to some who knew the pair, it wasn't a shock. "People close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable," says a second insider. "It really hasn't been a secret in their circles that Keith and Nicole have been living separately for a while now."
