Top 10 highest-grossing Indian movies of 2025: From Kantara, Dhurandhar to Saiyaara, worldwide box office collection and full hit list

Highest Grossing Films of 2025. While the final tally of films released in 2025 will only be clear at year-end, the Indian film industry has already seen an overwhelming output. Over 1,500 films across multiple Indian languages have been released so far, yet only ten managed to dominate headlines by emerging as the highest-grossing Indian films of the year.

According to Sacnilk, a total of 1,519 films released in India in 2025 have collectively earned a gross of Rs 12,291.27 crore. Remarkably, the top 10 films alone account for Rs 4,443.42 crore-over one-third of the total box-office revenue so far. Among them, Dhurandhar, currently positioned third, continues to shatter records and shows strong potential to climb higher.

The films occupying the top 10 spots are Kantara: A Legend - Chapter 1, Chhaava, Dhurandhar, Saiyaara, Coolie, War 2, Mahavatar Narsimha, Lokah Chapter One: Chandra, They Call Him OG, and Housefull 5.

2025 proved to be a landmark year for the Kannada film industry, with Rishab Shetty's Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 securing the top position. A prequel to the 2022 blockbuster, the film released on October 2 and went on to collect Rs 852.26 crore worldwide. Backed by Hombale Films—best known for the KGF franchise—the film was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 125 crore. While critical reception was mixed, its box-office performance remained extraordinary. However, with Dhurandhar crossing the Rs 600 crore mark globally, the top spot could soon be challenged.

Alia Bhatt calls saree India's little black dress; says she feels most comfortable and herself in the traditional drape

In an interview, Alia Bhatt called sarees the Indian version of the little black dress, highlighting their comfort and versatility, and her love for it. Alia Bhatt, like every other Indian, is obsessed with sarees. If you are of desi origins, at least once in your lifetime, or even multiple times, you would have raided your mother or grandmother's closet to steal one of their sarees to wear to an event or a festival. That is the rage of sarees in India. In a recent interview with Vogue, Alia highlighted this fact and characterised the traditional Indian saree as a versatile garment comparable to the western 'little black dress (LBD)' due to its comfort and adaptability. Let's find out what she said.
