Parul Karn talks to travel experts MANU KASHYAP, JYOTI MAYAL and JULIE KAGTI to bring you a list of one unusual Indian destination for each month of the year

When you sit in your office, the whole world seems to be working in an office setting. When you're driving down a highway, it's as if everyone is heading somewhere. When you're sitting in a café, sipping a freshly-brewed coffee, it appears as if it is what the universe is doing. Our busy, predictable routines demand that we broaden these micro-worlds we create for ourselves. And what better way than travelling and exploring?
There are different riches in the world, and some of the richest individuals are those who have accumulated experiences - by travelling. This year, away from the popular overcrowded destinations, go for these unusual, underrated destinations in India.
JANUARY
COORG, Karnataka
Gone are the days when people used to flock to Manali, Shimla, and Nainital time and again for lack of better choices. A hill station in Southern India, Coorg is highly accessible, breathtakingly beautiful, and breaks the monotony of travelling to the northern hills. Life in Coorg is simple, laid-back, and serene - a perfect escape from the chaos of city crowds. What makes Coorg different from the usual suspects is its contemplative ambience. And, as a bonus, the people in the vicinity are hospitable and lovely to communicate with.

Things To Do: Boating on Honnamana Kere Lake, coffee plantation tours
