From her successes in the textile industry to founding Kanine India, SHILPA DHINGRA talks to Ravina M Sachdev about her journey

Ever since she was a young girl, Shilpa Dhingra was always clear about wanting to make her mark on the textile world. “Growing up in the setting of our family business Orient Craft, a pioneering garment design house established over 40 years ago, I envisioned taking over our family’s factory,” she recalls. “This dream was fuelled by my passion for the industry and my early involvement in product development at Orient Craft.” After completing her schooling at Convent of Jesus and Mary, Delhi, in 1993, she secured an internship with Tommy Hilfiger in 1995. “This experience exposed me to various facets of the fashion industry, including PR, textiles, retail, and manufacturing,” she reveals.
