For Careers360's 2026 B-school ranking, we evaluate and rank 100 public and private management institutions and rate over 550. A new section looks at new-age and highly-specialised branches

- Aeshwarya Tiwari

For the 2026 edition of Careers360's B-school Ranking, we have evaluated more management schools than in previous years.

We compiled a list of 1,200 B-schools of which 1,064 were shortlisted for closer scrutiny. The 100 best have been ranked.

The number of ranked institutions remains unchanged: 45 public and 55 private-funded business schools. The Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) continue to dominate the top positions among public institutions. The top seven public institutions and the top three private institutions continue to hold the same places as last year.

Among private institutions, 22 schools have not been assigned specific ranks but have been included within the appropriate ranking clusters. These institutions offer reputable MBA or PGDM programmes, and based on historical data and previous records, they have been grouped into their respective clusters.

This edition assesses a total of 1,064 institutions, with the top 100 ranked and 554 rated this year. 'AAAAA' is the highest rating and as usual, we have published the names of only those institutes that have earned a minimum rating of AA+, representing the top 50 percentiles.

Further, over 500 B-schools have been rated and listed by location - zone, state and city or town. This structure enables meaningful comparisons among institutions within the same geographical region.

In states with a limited number of rated management institutes or where institutions are concentrated in a single city, B-schools may not be listed separately by city. In such cases, all eligible institutions have been grouped together.

The Delhi-NCR cluster includes three states and union territories — Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Institutions located in Delhi and neighbouring NCR towns are listed both under the Delhi-NCR cluster and under their respective state lists. For example, an institution in Gurugram appears in both the Delhi-NCR and Haryana lists.
