A New Place to Dwell
My work colleagues and I are of a similar age and are always reminiscing about old comedy shows. However, there is a show that I remember that no one else seems to recollect. It was called Heartburn Hotel, and all I can remember is that it starred Tim Healy as the owner of a rather seedy hotel that had rooms named after old British athletes. If you could give me any information on this series, or indeed let me know if it is on DVD, I would be very grateful.
M Harris, Barnehurst, Kent
Best of British says: Written by Only Fools and Horses' John Sullivan, accompanied by co-writer Steve Glover, Heartburn Hotel was broadcast on BBC One across two series and a Christmas special in 1998 and 2000. Benidorm and Auf Wiedersehen, Pet star Tim Healey played Harry Springer, an ex-army cook who had bought a Birmingham hotel to capitalise on Birmingham's failed bid to host the 1992 Summer Olympics.
