Mario Lopez has been working out most of his life, but at the age of 52, it's starting to catch up to him. “I've been getting injured consistently the last few years,” the Access Hollywood host tells Us. Although Lopez likes to play golf, he admittedly gravitates toward “very physical, explosive sports” like jujitsu and boxing, which Dr. John Layke of the Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery Group says “destroyed many of his joints” over time. Ultimately, the Saved by the Bell alum was forced to undergo multiple operations to repair his shoulders and bicep tendons, leaving him with limited mobility. Now, the dad of three turned to Proactive Longevity for therapeutic plasma exchange and stem cell therapy. “These treatments will allow me to strengthen my joints and continue doing what I love,” Lopez shares, “so I'm very excited about it.” He tells Us more.

MARIO LOPEZ Bouncing Back

How did the plasma exchange go?
It wasn't that intense at all. You just kind of sit there for a couple hours, and then you get the IV. It's like an oil change. All the stuff that comes out is actually really heavy. It's wild.

How confident are you feeling about the results?
I'm always eternally optimistic. I feel good right now. Just got to train smarter — still hard, but smarter.
