NEWLY UNEARTHED TAPES REVEAL FRACTURES EARLY IN THE PRINCESS' MARRIAGE TO KING CHARLES.

IT was supposed to be a happy time, the christening of their second son. But in a secret interview, the late Diana, Princess of Wales, recalled an awkward encounter between her then-husband, King Charles III, and her mother. “Charles went up to [her] and said, ‘You know, we’re so disappointed. We thought it’d be a girl,” Diana says in a newly unearthed recording. “And Mommy snapped his head off and said, ‘You should realize how lucky you are to have a child that’s normal.’” The dustup effectively ended the monarch’s relationship with his mother-in-law, Diana recalled. “And ever since that day, a shutter [has] come down, and that’s what he does when he gets somebody answering back at him, so to speak.”
