From a ceremonial welcome at the Arc de Triomphe to a star-studded state banquet at the Palace of Versailles to a day trip to Bordeaux, King Charles and Queen Camilla were welcomed with immense joie de vivre on their historic official visit to France.

WINNING HEARTS IN FRANCE THE KING AND QUEEN HELLO! JOINS THE ROYALS ON A HISTORIC STATE VISIT

Hello! joined Their Majesties as they arrived in Paris to begin their three-day tour, which saw them warmly received by President Emmanuel Macron, his wife, Brigitte, and excited well-wishers.

Showing he has inherited a flair for languages from his mother, Elizabeth II, Charles, 74, addressed his hosts in fluent French. And while the nation may not have heard the cry "Vive le Roi" much since the French Revolution, it echoed in the streets of Paris as the monarch and his elegant wife were welcomed at every turn.

Over the following pages, Hello! takes you through the highlights of their triumphant trip.

DAY 1

Arriving in warm sunshine, the royal couple were welcomed at Paris-Orly airport by a group led by Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne (France has both a president and a prime minister).

Queen Camilla, 76, was beautifully on-trend in a Barbie-pink Fiona Clare coat dress and beret-style hat by Philip Treacy, which she held on to as gusts of wind swept the tarmac.

After walking the red carpet through a guard of honour, the King and Queen were whisked away for a ceremonial welcome from President Macron at the Arc de Triomphe.
