THE REAL VICTORIA BECKHAM

Discipline has always been Victoria Beckham's secret weapon.

She rises at around six each day and works out for two hours – 30 minutes alone, followed by 90 minutes with David (and their trainer) once he's back from the school run. She prides herself on having a family dinner on the table at 6 p.m. And, above all, she works. "She really grafts," a source close to Victoria tells Hello! "She is in bed at 2 or 3 a.m., working away on her laptop."

The designer and mom of four doesn't even have time for TV – though her children keep her connected to her pop-culture past. "We were on holiday this summer, travelling in the car with Romeo, Cruz, Harper and one of their friends, and they were listening to the Spice Girls," Victoria told the Times, giving a succinct glimpse into the parent (and pop star) behind the powerhouse.

For much of her career, Victoria's image has been one of control: sleek hair, sculpted tailoring and a famously serious expression. But in Victoria Beckham – her new three-part Netflix documentary series – she lets the facade fall away. "I think people are finally going to see who I really am," she says.

The candid scenes show Victoria, 51, reflecting on her difficult early years. "I wasn't one of the popular kids," she admits. "I was that awkward little girl who just wanted to fit in." Fashion, she explains, became her armour. "Clothes gave me confidence. They made me feel like the person I wanted to be."
