With a sea of spinning glitter balls and splashes of hot pink, there was no shortage of Saturday Night Fever when Monaco's royals hosted the annual Rose Ball in Monte Carlo.

While previous themes have included Bollywood and the Roaring Twenties, this year, the prestigious Salle des Etoiles was transformed into a shimmering, discoinspired haven, complete with a rose arch and a mirror-clad hallway adorned with glowing TV sets from the 1970s.

Lighting up the room, Princess Charlene was the belle of the (disco) ball. In her silver-and-rose-gold Elie Saab jumpsuit with a cinched waist, flared pants and plunging neckline, the former Olympic swimmer struck sartorial gold with her ABBA-inspired garment.

As well as her outfit, 46-year-old Charlene debuted a new hairstyle - a chic feathered fringe à la 1920s - as she partied with her husband of 12 years, Prince Albert, 66, who was debonair in an evening suit and a red bow tie.
