Jason Ritter on his comedic legacy, family life and the path to self-acceptance

GOOD FOR A LAUGH

Sometimes, acting seems to be built into your DNA Jason Ritter and that's the case with The son of actress Nancy Morgan and Three's Company funnyman John Ritter grew up in the Hollywood scene but maintained a down-toearth approach to life.

"My dad was never trying to be Mr. Cool," Jason says of his father, who tragically passed away in 2003, at the age of 54. "He just had fun, and he was who he was unapologetically, and I try to emulate that." That means being a great husband to his wife, Yellowjackets star Melanie Lynskey, 48, and a loving dad to their six-year-old daughter, all while playing lawyer Julian Markston on a reboot for one of TV's biggest hits.

"Working on Matlock is so exciting," the Los Angeles native, 45, shares. "I've been lucky enough to be part of shows before and it's never been this experience, where people are watching it and people are liking it! This is always what I've hoped for." Here, Jason opens up to Hello! Canada about his comedic insecurities, family life and filling his father's shoes.
