Buckingham Palace announces the largest ever exhibition of Queen Elizabeth II's fashion to mark 100 years since her birth

She was a style icon throughout her lifetime.

Now, to mark the centenary of her birth, the late Queen Elizabeth II's wardrobe will feature in an extensive exhibition at Buckingham Palace of her most notable fashion statements.

The star attractions include the gowns she wore for her wedding and coronation - both designed by Sir Norman Hartnell - and an exquisite silver lamé and tulle bridesmaid dress she wore in 1934, when she was eight years old, at the wedding of her uncle George, the Duke of Kent, to Princess Marina of Greece.

The dress, which is on display for the first time, was designed by Edward Molyneux and is one of the earliest surviving pieces of couture from the late monarch's childhood.

There will also be a glimpse into her off-duty wardrobe, with beautifully cut riding jackets, tartan skirts and silk headscarves also on display, proving that she was as smart and stylish in private as she was in public.
