Broke Darth Vader turned down piece of Star Wars profits
-

GALACTIC star James Earl Jones always regretted one huge mistake — he opted for a paltry $7,000 payday for voicing Darth Vader in Star Wars!
The booming-voiced baritone, who died at age 93 on Sept. 9, was a starving actor in 1977 when he was booked for the recording session. “$7,000 was big money for me in those days,” he said of the two and a half hours he spent doing the voiceover.
“I was broke and needed the money to pay rent and buy groceries. And I got to be a voice on a movie!” he added.

ROCK ON!
PHIL DANIELS plays a restless London youth in the 1979 British movie Quadrophenia, based on the Who's rock opera - but oddly, the chaotic production was not a musical, and the Who does not even appear in it! The lead was supposed to go to JOHN LYDON - better known as Johnny Rotten of notorious punk band the Sex Pistols - but the film's distributors thought he was too dicey a personality to insure. Nevertheless, production did not go smoothly. The Who's legendary drummer, KEITH MOON, died during filming, and a brawl scene in the seaside city of Brighton used two real- life rival gangs, resulting in a \"real riot - health and safety didn't come into it,\" according to Daniels.
