Hyundai Creta

There are cars that sell well and there are cars that define segments.

Hyundai Creta

Vivek Venugopal is one of India's top automotive writers with over a decade's experience in road-testing and reviewing cars. He is currently the Editor of Quarter Mile magazine and a columnist in several leading magazines and newspapers. He is also a highly sought after consulting engineer and market analyst for many automobile manufacturers.

Although it was the Duster that started this segment, soon the Hyundai Creta took over and people started referring to it as the Creta segment. With two successful generations and over 9 lakh cars sold, almost everyone knew Hyundai was onto a winner right from the start. We drove the latest 2024 facelift and here is what you need to know.

The second-generation Creta wasn't really to our liking when it came out in 2020. The unconventional styling left a lot to be desired. Thankfully this new facelift has made it more palatable. The front end now has a squaredoff design with full-width DRLs running over a blocklike grille. The headlamps are now positioned lower on the front bumper. The rear also gets revised styling with new full-width tail lamps, a redesigned tailgate and rear bumper. The sides remain the same and look a bit mismatched to the boxier edgier redesign of the front and rear. You get new alloy wheel designs though. Unlike the Kia Seltos which gets 18-inch wheels, Hyundai has stuck to 17 inches in the Creta.
