‘Viksit Bharat’ means ‘Developed India’. The Viksit Bharat 2047 mission is the Indian government’s vision to transform India into a developed nation by 2047, the 100th anniversary of India’s Independence.

This initiative aims for comprehensive development, including economic growth, social progress, environmental sustainability, and good governance. Education, therefore, is vital for achieving this vision, as it empowers citizens, promotes innovation, and drives sustainable progress.
Education improves people’s capabilities and is a key component of social justice, which is an important factor in realizing the goals of Viksit Bharat. By fostering critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a spirit of innovation, education enables individuals to contribute effectively to the nation’s growth. The Viksit Bharat 2047 initiative recognizes the importance of the youth and seeks to channel their creativity and Event And Budget Story energy to align with the nation’s development goals.
The government has launched several initiatives to boost education and skills such as formulation of National Education Policy 2020, Digital Literacy Programs, Skill development programs, Viksit Bharat Ambassador-Yuva Connect Initiative etc. These efforts promote innovation and selfreliance, aligning individual aspirations with national development goals.
In the Budget 2025-2026, the Indian government, under the leadership of Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan Ji, has shown a strong commitment to education and skill development, with the goal of empowering the country’s youth and achieving the “Viksit Bharat” vision by 2047. The Ministry of Education according to sources, is said to have received a total allocation of ₹128,650 crore, a 6.22% increase from the Budget Estimate of 202425. This investment aims to improve education, promote skill development, advance research, and encourage innovation, creating more opportunities for quality education and building human capital.
