KIIT is among a handful of institutes in the country which has promoted sports passionately, making games integral to its academic life. Today, the 25 sq.km sprawling campus has one of the largest cricket stadiums as well as an indoor stadium among all universities. To put things into perspective, the state-of-art campus has 3,71,354 sq. ft. of well-appointed courts, tracks and fields. In all, it has 16 Sports Complexes with Swimming Pools and Gymnasium Facilities.
No wonder then, the varsity has groomed athletes who have gone on to win laurels for the country in the Olympics, Asiad and Commonwealth Games, apart from other national and international sporting events. Some of the household names who have demonstrated their potential in the fields are athletes Dutee Chand and Srabani Nanda, CA Bhavani Devi, Hockey stars Amit Rohidas and Sunita Lakra and Javelin thrower Shivpal Singh.
