Wheat is a significant crop, and like other crops, is susceptible to a range of infections. Here, we provide information on the most important fungal diseases that affect wheat.

LEAF RUST
CAUSED BY: Puccinia triticina (fungus)
SYMPTOMS: small, round, orange-brown pustules primarily on the upper leaf surfaces. Severe infections can lead to premature leaf drop, reducing grain fill.
MANAGEMENT: plant resistant cultivars and apply fungicides when necessary. Regular monitoring is essential to detect and manage outbreaks early.
POWDERY MILDEWCAUSED BY: Blumeria graminis f. sp. tritici (fungus)
