From isolation TO LIBERATION

After languishing in solitary confinement at an abandoned Armenian zoo for five agonising years, 15-year-old lion Ruben, the once-loneliest lion in the world, embarked on an extraordinary journey of redemption, thanks to the concerted efforts of Animals Defenders International (ADI) and Qatar Airways Cargo.

Ruben, abandoned when a private zoo in Armenia closed its doors, had endured unimaginable suffering in a cramped concrete cell, devoid of any contact with fellow lions. Qatar Airways Cargo orchestrated a 5,200-mile journey to transport Ruben to the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary in Free State, South Africa.

In his newfound sanctuary, Ruben is experiencing a renaissance of sorts. He's rediscovering his voice, his confidence, and the long-forgotten joys of life.
