Gomini is India's first managed cow care service platform, rooted in the mission of reviving the sacred cow-based economy through responsible ownership, traditional wellness, and rural empowerment. The company operates as a closed, invite-only ecosystem where cow owners are connected directly to their adopted cows via Gomini's digital platform. Each cow is RFID-tagged and linked to a blockchain-based NFT for secure, lifelong ownership records. Real-time health and activity are tracked via IoT devices, with Al monitoring behaviour to detect issues early. In an exclusive interview with AgroSpectrum, Dr Arjun Sharma, Founder and CEO Gomini shared his insights about livestock management sector in India.

"Technology became our tool not to extract more from cows, but to care for them better while creating sustainable livelihoods”

What inspired the creation of Gomini, and why did you choose to focus on improving cow care as your starting point in agritech?

The inspiration came from the Rajiv Dixit school of thought when I met one of his disciples. Fast forward to my research years, and I saw a heartbreaking reality: the White Revolution, while boosting milk production, had inadvertently created a system that exploited cows as mere production units.

We imported exotic breeds like Holstein-Friesian and Jersey, bred them for maximum output, and in the process, nearly destroyed our indigenous Gir, Sahiwal, and Rathi breeds. These foreign breeds require intensive inputs, produce A1 milk with questionable health impacts, and have shortened lifespans due to metabolic stress. Meanwhile, our indigenous cows, which produce superior A2 milk and thrive on local fodder and are climatically adapted, were abandoned as ‘uneconomical’.

But here's what broke my heart: the exploitation isn't just biological, it's cultural. We lost the ancient science of Panchgavya — the holistic understanding that cows give us five sacred gifts: milk, curd, ghee, urine, and dung. This wasn't any superstition. It was sophisticated agricultural science. Panchgavya-based organic farming sustained Indian agriculture for millennia. Today, that knowledge is nearly extinct, replaced by chemical fertilisers that have destroyed our soil microbiome.

I started Gomini because I realised, we needed to reverse-engineer the White Revolution and not reject its productivity gains, while restoring what we lost: indigenous breed preservation, humane treatment, and Panchgavya science revival. Technology became our tool not to extract more from cows, but to care for them better while creating sustainable livelihoods.

The agritech and dairy-tech space in India is growing rapidly. How does Gomini set itself apart from other livestock management solutions available today?

Trump's Tariff and its Impact on Shrimp industry of India

The recent decision by US President Donald Trump to impose a 50 per cent tariff on Indian exports has dealt a substantial blow to India's seafood sector, with shrimp exports bearing the maximum brunt of the impact. The total duty on Indian shrimp exports to the US has risen to 58.26 per cent, including a 50 per cent reciprocal tariff (which includes 25 per cent of penal tariff imposed on India for Russian crude imports), 5.77 per cent countervailing duty, and 2.49 per cent anti-dumping duty. Hence this, almost 59 per cent tariff, is going to have severe economic repercussions across multiple dimensions of India's fast-growing Shrimp industry.
