Keeping warm on cold passages

Cold weather can create challenging sailing conditions, especially on a smaller yacht.

A hot water bottle held against the chest, under your gear, can provide welcome heat during a night watch. Even when the air temperature seems comfortable (above 20°C), you should be careful, especially if the sea water is below 10°C. In cold conditions, prevention is important. It's certainly a lot easier than recovery!
