Compact Flagships with a Practical Edge

The flagship smartphone space has evolved dramatically over the past few years. Performance is now largely a given, displays are consistently excellent, and the real battleground has shifted toward cameras, AI capabilities, and ecosystem integration. With the new Samsung Galaxy S26 and Samsung Galaxy S26+, Samsung continues its strategy of refining a familiar formula rather than reinventing it. After spending some time using the S26+, including in demanding real-world shooting conditions, these phones come across as polished, reliable flagships that prioritise usability and ecosystem strengths.

Form Factor: Compact, Comfortable and Practical

One of the first things you notice about both devices is the form factor. In a world where flagship phones are getting increasingly large, Samsung has managed to keep the ergonomics of the S26 lineup very comfortable. The S26 is the smaller of the two devices, while the S26+ offers a slightly larger display without becoming unwieldy.

The S26+ in particular strikes a sweet spot. It sits comfortably in the hand, the weight distribution is balanced, and the build quality is exactly what you expect from Samsung's flagship lineup. The unit we received came in a striking purple shade that looks premium without being overly flashy.

Hardware and Performance

Under the hood, both devices are powered by Samsung's latest Exynos 2600 processor and run on Android 16 with One UI 8.5. The unit we tested featured 12GB RAM and 256GB of high-speed internal storage, which proved more than adequate for everyday productivity as well as media capture and editing.
