CMC MASERATI TIPO 60 “BIRDCAGE” FROM THE 2008 GOODWOOD REVIVAL

For die cast collectors who appreciate the intersection of technical craftsmanship and motorsport history, CMC's 1:18-scale Maserati Tipo 60 "Birdcage" is worth studying up-close.

Finished in red and based on the actual car driven at the 2008 Goodwood Revival, this highly detailed replica is limited to just 1,000 pieces worldwide. As with all CMC creations, the model doesn't just look the part—it invites hands-on inspection with fully functional parts and removable panels that reveal the inner workings of this historically significant racer.

Comprising a total of 1,533 parts, the hand-assembled model highlights the unique engineering behind Maserati's original. Chief among these features is the car's namesake structure: a faithful recreation of the space-frame chassis made from more than 200 miniature metal tubes. This complex lattice, itself weighing only 30 kilograms on the original, was one of the most innovative approaches to racecar construction in its era—and CMC has managed to capture it in scale, right down to the visible riveted stiffeners and removable baseplate.
