Tata Motors resets the portfolio-wide, trucking benchmarks in safety, profitability and electric mobility

- Ashish Bhatia

Trucking Standards Redefined

At Bharat Mandapam, Tata Motors set out to redefine trucking standards with the launch of 17 next-generation trucks spanning seven-to-55-tonnes, marking one of the most comprehensive portfolio transformations. The event introduced the all-new Azura series for the I&LMCV segment, the Tata Trucks. EV portfolio built on the I-MOEV (Intelligent Modular Electric Vehicle) Architecture, and significant upgrades across the Prima, Signa and Ultra platforms. The messaging was unequivocal. Safety elevated to European crash standards, profitability engineered into every drivetrain, and electrification scaled across tonnage bands. And above all, a reaffirmation of Tata Motors' guiding philosophy of 'Better Always'.

Launching the new portfolio, Girish Wagh, MD & CEO, Tata Motors Ltd., framed the moment as transformational. He described the unveiling as the opening of a new chapter for Indian logistics, one aligned with infrastructure modernisation, GST-led formalisation and new found momentum, and sustainability imperatives. Wagh emphasised during the address. With this next-generation portfolio, including the all-new Azura series, two advanced high-efficiency powertrains, India’s widest range of zero-emission electric trucks on our new I-MOEV architecture, we are advancing this legacy”.

imageThe emphasis was not only on product expansion, but on reshaping benchmarks across safety, performance and profitability.

EUROPEAN STANDARDS ON INDIAN ROADS

If one theme defined the event, it was safety as nonnegotiable. Tata Motors has upgraded its entire truck portfolio, including the Prima, Signa, Ultra and Azura series, to meet ECE R29.03 European crash safety standards. These cabins are engineered for full frontal impact, rollover protection and side-impact safety.
