Car clubs head west for Haynes celebration

The inaugural John Haynes Classic took over the Haynes Motor Museum in Sparkford, Somerset, on 7 September, coinciding with the venue’s 40th anniversary. The day celebrated the man as much as the cars he loved: John Haynes passed away in February 2019, and one of the sessions on the live stage brought his family and friends together to remember him. Other discussions considered ’80s icons, the future for classic cars and programmes to engage the next generation.

Vehicles from the on-site Haynes Heritage Engineering formed a parade, but poking round the garages and some of its projects, such as an Alfa Romeo Montreal that arrived as a rolling shell, was just as entertaining.
