CAPTURING THE ESSENCE

Chilly, cold mornings and Mumbai is a rare combination that we seldom see in this part of our beautiful country.
As the cold spell began, we headed out on one fine morning with two Scramblers worthy of being called Scramblers, at least under the INR 4 Lakh price bracket. On one hand, there was the recently launched Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650 and on the other, the motorcycle which waged a war against its peers the Triumph Scrambler 400X. As both of these rugged yet gorgeous motorcycles stood in front of us on a barren land, the sun splattered its first set of glorious rays on the Mumbai horizon. Call it a wordplay but that was the moment it 'dawned' on me, we are living in some of the most astonishing years in the Indian motorcycling scenario.
Seeing these two motorcycles parked in front of us, begging us to just scramble away, it was time to decide which Scrambler out of these two deserve a better shot at your hard-earned garage.
WARRIOR QUEENS Dual-purpose tyres, 19-inch front wheels, more suspension travel and rugged elements splattered all across the bodywork. While these are the aspects that resonate with the Warrior side of these motorcycles, they're also pretty to look at. Think of a warrior queen which could kill you with both, her charming smile and a dagger sheathed away on her waist. On this particular shoot, the entire crew was divided in two halves and that made my job even harder to decide a clear winner at least in the looks department.
You see, the Triumph Scrambler 400X is a Scrambler done just right in terms of aesthetics. It has everything going for it and gains on the Bear 650 by offering handguards, gold-finished USD forks and a headlamp protector grille.
