If you look at sales figures, it comes as a big surprise to see mid-size SUVS ruling the roost. The Rs 15 lakh to Rs 24 lakh bracket especially continues to command massive waiting times. Quite obviously then, this is the segment to be in. With the Elevate, Honda has entered the battlegrounds challenging the established players. Kia in the meantime has given a hearty facelift to the Seltos. Hyundai on the other hand has moved on to a naturally aspirated petrol engine in the Creta. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is the only one to be offered as a full hybrid. Last but not least we have the Volkswagen Taigun which has always been the driver's delight.
Volkswagen Taigun
Model GT+
The Taigun based on the MQB AO IN platform carries the VW design and thanks to that, it looks very suave. There is the threeslat grille up front with the VW logo taking centre stage flanked by sleek LED headlight clusters. VW has also added a dollop of chrome on the front and this we think is very India-centric. The profile again flows smoothly and there is less muscle to talk about in the Taigun. But at the back things get interesting as one can spot a similar chrome element as seen in the front. But the signature of the Taigun is the connected tail light console which endows it with a killer rear visual.
