Using both watercolor and inks on special xuan paper, a traditional paper with a translucent quality, Quan Sun has invented an entirely personal style, where allegory, color, and construction blend together to transcend reality and accentuate the magic of the vision.

Quan Sun is a Chinese visual artist living in Los Angeles and Shanghai, China. She was born in the middle of the Japanese-Chinese War in 1942 in Shanghai. Her father was a famous chemist who brought China the first nylon after graduating with a Ph.D. in Chemistry in Germany. Her mother traveled across the South Sea in her early 20s to become a principal at a university in Malaysia. Later she would return to China, giving all her gold to sponsor her husband's studying in Germany while she gave up her career to raise their children.
