Designed by principals Akshay Heranjal, Nishita Bhatia and Aditi Pai, The Centre for Inclusive Growth & Competitiveness at TAPMI in Manipal, India, is a visionary academic space that transforms the conventional campus experience into a vibrant community hub. A new archetype for institutions, the centre depicts a new ideology in brick, stone, and bamboo
Designed by The Purple Ink Studio, the Centre for Inclusive Growth & Competitiveness is a fresh, almost surreal interpretation of institutional infrastructure. Built within the T.A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) campus in Manipal, the project unfolds as a reimagined vision of what academic spaces in India can appear and feel like.
Spearheaded by principal architects Akshay Heranjal and Nishita Bhatia with landscape design by Aditi Pai, this 12,500 sq ft structure transforms a humble hillside plot into an imaginative community space that carefully dissolves the confines between academic life and public engagement.
“The client's brief was deeply rooted in the institution’s core values, emphasising the design of academic spaces that inspire collaboration and meaningful interaction. The Program, which included classrooms, administration, workshops and a small cafeteria could be accommodated on ground and an upper level.
Reinterpreting the conventional academic block, the intent was to design spaces that transcended beyond academic hours, re-imagining them as community hubs,” reveals Nishita.

Designed by Pooja Bihani of Spaces and Design, the Jain community centre calibrates light, proportion, and material to regulate pace at the level of the body-using spatial sequencing and restraint to turn slowness into a quietly radical architectural stance
