A KALEIDOSCOPE OF THE PAST

Project: Goldene Rose, Germany, Architects: noa* network of architecture

It is not unusual for adjoining buildings to become architecturally connected. But this project’s story is one of a kind. The medieval town of Dinkelsbühl

lies along southern Germany’s Romantic Road and marks the centroid of the Stuttgart-MunichNuremberg geographical triangle. It is one of Germany’s best-preserved historical centres, with ancient city walls, defensive moats and traditional half-timbered houses. In this unique urban fabric of the former imperial town, noa* has succeeded in giving different architectural identities, each with their own history and peculiarities, a common face. Located opposite the Cathedral of St George, the newly designed five-star Goldene Rose hotel boasts a lively building history, which has now found a new perspective.

LUKAS RUNGGER Founder and Leading Architect, noa*

Lukas Rungger graduated in architecture from Technical University Graz (AT) and after additional studies in Brussels (BE) he worked first as architect with Prof. Hans Gangoly in Graz (AT), then with Softroom Architects in London (UK) and finally in Milan (IT) with Matteo Thun. After having gained his diploma in New York City (USA) followed by his professional qualification as architect from IUAV Venezia (IT), Lukas has been extensively involved in a wide range of projects mainly in the field of masterplanning, housing, hotels and interior architecture of bars and restaurants.
