There are buildings that harbour function, and then there are some buildings that revamp function into art. The PLUS building by Charged Voids belongs to the latter category. Standing in Panchkula’s industrial belt, this noteworthy structure announces itself from the first glance—a massive red brick cross elevated on a dark plinth, its form so prompt that it transcends its commercial objective to become a landmark. We asked the founder of Charged Voids and lead architect Aman Aggarwal what made this building so iconic. “In most cases, I think the first impression of any building is its form. And that’s precisely what makes this building iconic; its beautiful sculptural form referencing the pharmaceutical field,” he explains. “The building is like a three-dimensional plus, a plus in the plan, in the elevations. It almost stands like a beautiful red brick sculpture on a black stone pedestal.”
