LAST year, Rebecca Marsh hit a purple patch at this show with the brilliant Stevie G, going on to be crowned national champion at Stoneleigh.

This year, she retraced her footsteps, clinching the area trial and taking runner-up in the Salesbury Hall grand prix.

“Last time, it was the grand prix I won, but I just got beaten this time,” she said. “He's had a really good year and he’s been going great.”

Both feature classes were struck by heavy downpours, following a long run of arid conditions, but the ground held up well, ensuring the competition remained intense.
