It’s been two years since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex left the UK in a huff, claiming they’d had enough of life in the royal spotlight and were decamping to Canada for an extended holiday.

As the record now shows, the couple never returned in an official capacity, instead using the six-week break on Vancouver Island to plot their resignation as senior, working members of the family, claiming they desperately wanted privacy.

Fast-forward two years, with the couple now living in California with their two young children, and that’s not exactly how it panned out.

CRINGEY STUNTS

Far from living the private life away from prying eyes they’d claimed to seek, last week 40-year-old Meghan made headlines for her cheesy appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ daytime talk show, where she agreed to perform a range of cringe-worthy stunts including squatting in the studio lot, eating a corn chip like a chipmunk and drinking milk from a baby bottle.

“Meghan thought it was hilarious – she thought it showed off her cheeky, softer side, but she was about the only one in the family who did,” says a source. “Harry was really embarrassed for her. Even though they aren’t working royals, she is still using her duchess title and should behave with a certain level of decorum.”

Insiders close to Harry, 37, are worried the “publicity circus Meghan has created around them” via her shiny new US publicity team is “making a mockery of him”.
