Gregg lives in Kent with his wife Anne-Marie, 32, her parents and their three-month-old son Sid, plus his son Tom, 25, and daughter Libby, 22, from his second marriage.

My career Having no qualifications and getting people to trust my brain rather than my hands was hard – I was a van driver, a labourer and a greengrocer. People say, ‘How can you be a judge on MasterChef if you’re not a chef?’ but they never ask that of the restaurant critics. I think that’s because my voice is common. I’ve never wanted to be a chef – I want to pay my bills.
