We jetted off to glittering Las Vegas, the casino capital of the world, for my special birthday weekend! This buzzing hub in Nevada, America, is packed with infamous casinos, glitzy hotels and extravagant evening entertainment – no wonder its nickname is Sin City.

Since Nevada legalised gambling in 1931, Las Vegas has drawn gamblers from across the world. It's also in demand as a glamorous location for films, playing a starring role in top movies such as Viva Las Vegas, Rain Man and Ocean's Eleven.

Where to go

A nine-hour coach ride took us to the hoover Dam and grand Canyon. The views were absolutely breathtaking – a surreal, once-in-a-life-time-experience.
